So I never really grew up...

I still remember how on the school day of Halloween in freshman year, our Ap Us Government teacher gave a half joking lecture regarding how we were too old to go trick or treating. It gave me this sad feeling inside, however I noticed that several other people in the room were showing visible signs of that feeling that we all know too well. For me it's almost like a sinking feeling of something bad about to happen, mixed with sadness and a desire to turn back time. And then there's the desire to fix this problem by talking yourself, or receiving some sort of verification that whatever has caused this unhappiness is invalid; logically unsound and/or based on untrue premise. A girl in our class,5'6 perhaps, approached the teacher and said something along the lines of "but we're not really too old to go trick or treating right?" The teacher laughed and she was reassured.

Countless people have told me that I look much younger than I actually am, with estimates of around 11-13. I feel like I never got past 12. The downside is that I am frequently not taken very seriously by peers or adults who do not know me. The upside is everything else :D

Throughout the past 2 and now third year at my high school, I have noticed that the kids in our magnet program seem to be 'younger' than normal also. A correlation due to intense pressure and time spent studying, which was taken from the time that was supposed to be for turning 'mature'(oh how ironic since teens usually are not). An excellent example is that the National Honors Society, composed of upperclassmen with 3.5+uw gpas and many extracurriculars, is having a semi mandatory event of trick or treating for UNICEF. And the co-presidents/English teacher sponsor spoke with the assumption that we would be raising money for needy children along with collecting candy. (So instead of just going out and getting candy this year, you will also be asking for munny. There are many children in Africa...)

So in conclusion, I will, if the times are appropriate, dress up in something cute(either that or something so that everyone will think I am a boy) and enjoy another year of prolonged childhood.

loll :D you know, people are never too old to be kids. because at least i know i will be a kid all the time, there's no harm :P
where are you going trick or treating? If asking for money is a required thing, I suggest you go to Kentlands (or around that area) because everyone that lives there is rich xD Last time, my brother went there with his friends, and he came back with lots of toothbrushes (dentists) and money (lawyers) and lots of the more expensive kinds of candy.
I want to go trick or treating this year too, but my mom says I;m too old as well. But seriously, if I stand beside Thomas, it will look like im doing a good thing, "going trick or treating with my brother." And I'm so short. Last time in school, someone thought I was in the 5th/6th grade. i was like 0_0;;. But then again, the younger you are, the more likely people will give you more candy :P

Oh haha the kentlands. I think I will just hang around this neighborhood near where I live cause it's just low-key trickortreating for a good cause :P
Aww it's too bad your mom says that. But yeah you could totally get a lot of candy with thomas. My dad said I was too old when I asked for a new costume(I don't know why I think it's the OCD/tradition thing) and then I pretended to be really offended :P
